Carley Trillow LISW

Owner of Brighter Days Recovery Counseling

Professional Training & Education

Carley Trillow obtained her undergraduate and master’s degree in Social Work from Youngstown State Univeristy among the top of her class.

Over the course of her career she worked in an array of inpatient treatment centers and residential homes for both mental health and addiction. She also worked as adjunct professor for a local social work college program before opening her own therapy practice in Cleveland - Brighter Days Recovery Counseling .

After getting EMDR trained, she quickly fell in love with a trauma informed framework for treating clients holistically. She loves to bring her clients into the science of trauma and healing in a full partnership. Clients describe her as comforting, nurting, casual, and “an angel” to talk to while still being authentic and real.

Carley likes to describe her work as “not too buttoned up” and “annoyingly curious”. She wants to get to the “bottom” of things just as much as her clients which results in feeling her genuine interest in getting to healing as fast as possible. “I am going to show up as myself and I want my clients to do the same. No one wants to show up with someone nodding along holding a clipboard. We need to just be humans connecting at the core of it.”

Specialty Areas

Carley Trillow specializes in working with people pleasers, narcissistic abuse survivors, and childhood emotional neglect survivors. Alongside these experiences, she enjoys working with women who have ADHD and/or autism.

A Note From Carley

My name is Carley and I LOVE being a therapist but finding my own years ago was a nightmare. Therapy is truly like dating - you’re going to find alot that don’t work for you but are perfect for someone else.

When I was looking to do my own healing, I wished that I could hear more about the person behing the credentials - which is why I want to tell you more about myself. Research also shows that personal connection and relationship is THE most important healing factor in therapy. If you want to learn more about my work IN the therapy room, read the other sections on my page!

As someone with ADHD, my everyday life can look different everyday! For example, I may spontaneously spend my day reoganizing my whole home or visiting a local museum alone!

But there are some core staples that I find myself obsessed with. First, most of my day revolves around my 2 year old frenchie , Paulie Walnuts (yes after the Soprano character). If I am not hanging out with my pup, you can count on me to be thrift shopping, at a coffee shop, painting with watercolors, learning about interior design, rock climbing, or at a yoga class!

If you knew me today, you’d never guess that I was a severe people pleaser for the bulk of my life! I couldn’t say no, couldn’t prioritize time for myself, and struggled with confidence in decision making! EMDR and parts work was the foundation of my healing - which is why I bring it to my clients now! I would love to bring it to our work together too!
